A virtual time travel does not require much preparation. Nevertheless, we ask you to check in with us on time, ideally a few minutes before the time slot you booked begins. This way we can not only ensure compliance with hygiene regulations, but also a smooth process! After check-in, you will receive a freshly cleaned, disinfected and UV-C irradiated VR headset and controllers, as well as a brief introduction to their functions – and then you’re ready to go!
FAQ
General questions about our VR time travel, VR goggles and your visit to 20s.BERLIN
Are you ready for your journey of a special kind?
Are VR goggles and controllers complicated to handle? Do I have to pay attention to anything in particular?
Please don’t worry about the handling! Honestly: It’s very easy. We’ll explain you on site how everything works and after a few minutes you’ll be ready to go!
Do I have to take off my glasses under the VR headset? Will I still be able to recognize anything at all?
Most glasses can simply be carried on underneath the VR goggles. However, very large frames can be problematic. Varifocals are problematic, too. If you wear varifocals, you should exchange them for “normal” glasses with only one strength for the duration of your visit.
I get nauseous quickly and I heard that many people feel sick in VR. Is that true and what can I do about it?
Yes and no – we don’t want to pull the wool over your eyes, so we have to admit that there are people who get dizzy or even slightly nauseous in virtual reality. But we also want to calm you down right away: If anything, VR experiences are problematic where your body (specifically, your inner ear) registers something different than your eye does. When you see yourself driving, but your body remains motionless in one place, for example. With 20s.BERLIN, however, what you see corresponds as far as possible to what your body is actually doing. You move freely and can thus control your own pace and actions! This eliminates the biggest potential trigger for nausea and/or dizziness. Another important factor is the length of stay. Our suggestion for beginners is up to 20 minutes. That’s why we chose this amount of time for our regular tickets.
What does it mean for me as a guest that 20s.BERLIN-VR is "freely accessible, interactive and reactive"?
This means that there is no predefined sequence of events. Each visitor experiences his/her time travel differently. For example, you can follow a particular person or explore the area on your own. You can also just stay in one place and “only” look around – just as you like! You can touch (almost) everything and have numerous interaction possibilities.
From what age can children go for a virtual timetravel?
Unfortunately, the VR headsets that are currently available do not suit children under 6, because with them the average distance between the eyes is too narrow. Therefore, children under the age of 6 cannot participate in our time travel experience. Please note that we cannot take over the care of your child while you virtually descend!
In which languages is 20s.BERLIN available?
Because we want the audio track to convey the speech melody of the typical Berlin jargon, it is only available in German, specifically: Berlinerish. However, you can individually choose to display German or English subtitles.
Why can I purchase my ticket but online and have to commit to a binding date?
Our ticketing system helps us to comply with the official requirements regarding distance and hygiene in the best possible way. This serves both your safety and that of our employees – and that is our top priority!
Is 20s.BERLIN barrier free?
As a visual, three-dimensional medium, virtual reality unfortunately is not entirely barrier-free – this is in the nature of things and cannot be circumvented even with the best will in the world. A strongly reduced sense of sight that does not allow three-dimensional vision certainly leads to a limited overall experience. The same with severely hearing impaired, who cannot perceive the sound of the VR. In this case, German or English subtitles would be available to compensate – but these also lead to a certain loss of experience because they interfere with the immersive effect. However, people with limited mobility and/or wheelchair users can go on a journey through time at 20s.BERLIN without any problems!
How long will my stay with 20s.BERLIN last?
That depends entirely on you! We recommend that VR-beginners do not immerse themselves for longer than 20 minutes at a time. That sounds quite short at first – but it’s not! In this time you can see and explore a lot and will almost certainly have any problems with dizziness or nausea. For VR-experienced or those who really want to know, we also offer the ticket variants “extended” (40 minutes) and “mega” (60 minutes).
I have a problem with ticket/voucher purchase - who can I contact?
Oops – that’s not supposed to happen. But if the worst comes to the worst, you can of course contact us! The best way is to send us an e-mail.
Who is entitled to a discount at 20s.BERLIN?
Children (from 6 years), pupils, vocational school students, students, trainees and persons with a severely disabled pass (from 50%) pay the reduced ticket price. Families, groups and school classes can also book their time travel at especially affordable conditions.
What do I need to bring for my time travel?
In accordance with current regulations, both our team and our guests are required to wear mouth-to-nose coverings. However, proof of a negative rapid test is currently not required. Please find out in good time before your visit whether you have to wear a mouth-nose covering, for example, and be sure to bring it with you!
Covid-19 & hygiene
Of course, we conscientiously implement all applicable hygiene regulations on site. We do not only clean and disinfect our VR headsets and controllers after each use, but also all other surfaces that come into contact with customers. In addition, our employees are required to carry out more general hygiene measures.
How do you clean VR goggles and controllers?
To be absolutely safe, we clean and disinfect our headsets and controllers after each use with an approved disinfectant and then additionally irradiate them with UV-C light.
How does 20s.BERLIN ensure compliance with the distance rules?
You don’t have to worry about adhering to the prescribed minimum distance – even if a number of visitors are in our virtual world at the same time (without seeing each other). Our entire set-up is specially designed to comply with the applicable distance rules, so that our guests never get too close unintentionally!
